Builsa South MP, Dr. Clement Apaak, described President Akufo-Addo’s suspicious direction to the CID to investigate allegations by the former Environment Minister, the Professor.

Mr Frimpong-Boateng said in an interview with GTV that the government, Jubilee House and members of the ruling party are involved in Galamsey activities.

A portion of Ghanaians have demanded a probe into the claims following the former minister for the environment’s admission.

The President wants the accusation to be investigated as a result of the calls from citizens.

According to The Daily Graphic, the investigation is being handled by the Criminal Investigation Department’s special investigation section.

In response to the President’s order, the Builsa South legislator expressed his desire for the Office of Special Prosecutor (OSP) or the Commission of Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to look into the claim.

I hope that these allegations were the subject of an OSP or CHRAJ investigation. Time will tell!, Mr. Apaak wrote in a tweet on Monday, March 20, 2023, regarding if the order to the CID to look into these charges was part of a scheme to get rid of them.

“The CID’s track record under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Nana Akufo-famous Addo’s propensity to exonerate his appointees of wrongdoing make his order to the police to look into Prof. Boateng’s charges questionable,” he concluded.

The former Minister has received a letter from the CID’s special unit, though, asking for help with the probe.
